Forest Outposts, Staff Quarters Vandalised Days After Chamrajnagar Encounter

Days after three men were killed in an encounter with the Karnataka Forest Department in Chamrajnagar district, several anti-poaching outposts and forest staff quarters have come under attack, with miscreants allegedly vandalising government property.

The incidents have raised concerns among forest officials, particularly as the attacks occurred in the aftermath of the encounter. According to officials, multiple forest department facilities were targeted, with anti-poaching camps and residential quarters bearing the brunt of the vandalism.

The forest department has registered a case in connection with the attacks and initiated an investigation to identify those responsible.

The three men were killed in an encounter involving forest department personnel in Chamrajnagar days before the attacks. The incident had drawn controversy, with authorities maintaining that the operation was carried out as part of efforts to curb illegal activities in the forest. Others however argued that the victims were not poachers.
